I am Anthony Teixeira, an independent native French translator based in Japan since 2009. I translate directly from Japanese into French, with a focus on video games, software and technical content. I have worked in a Japanese localization company and have offered freelance translation services since 2011.
My background in IT and software development supports the technical side of localization, while living and working in Japan helps me understand the context behind the source text. I adapt the French to the intended audience, purpose and tone.

Direct Japanese-to-French game translation
Working directly from the Japanese source lets me address questions of character voice, register and implied meaning at their source. If an English reference version is available, we can agree how to use it while keeping the authoritative source clear.
Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights (2021) is a published example of my Japanese-to-French work. My contribution was translation; other team members supported editing and testing. In my case study, I discuss the balance between narrative clarity, atmosphere and the details revealed to the player.

Software, technical and other content
I can also discuss Japanese-to-French assignments involving software, documentation, websites and tourism materials. Send a representative sample so I can confirm subject-matter fit, the required research and the appropriate workflow.
For technical projects, I pay attention to terminology, file encoding and the handling of Japanese source files. We agree the target format and identify any protected tags, variables or layout constraints before work begins.
How the project works
- Brief and preparation: confirm the audience, French language variant, scope, source version, terminology and schedule.
- Translation: prepare the French from the Japanese source, using available reference material and raising questions where context is missing.
- Review and quality checks: review meaning, tone and readability, then check terminology, numbers, formatting and consistency.
- Delivery and support: return the agreed files and address follow-up questions, edits or additions.
If you already have a French translation, see my proofreading and revision service. In-product linguistic testing can be scoped separately for software and games.
