English-to-French Software and SaaS Translation

I am Anthony Teixeira, an independent native French translator with a background in IT and software development. I have worked in professional translation since 2009, in-house and as a freelancer. I translate software interfaces, technical documentation and product content from English into French.

This service is for software and SaaS teams that need a French version of their product, supporting documentation or marketing materials. You work directly with me to agree terminology, clarify the source and prepare the translation for its intended use.

What I translate

  • User interfaces: menus, buttons, labels, messages and other product strings.
  • Help and documentation: user manuals, setup instructions, help content and technical documentation.
  • Product marketing: website copy, product descriptions, specifications, press releases and supporting materials.

For related projects, see my app localization, hardware translation and website and SEO translation services. I also offer Japanese-to-French translation.

Terminology, context and file integrity

Technical content needs both subject knowledge and an understanding of how the product works. My development background helps me interpret interface strings, identify missing context and discuss localization requirements with your team.

Before translation, we review your terminology, style guide, audience and file format. Product access or screenshots help distinguish a button label from a status message and show where the French text will appear. Please identify placeholders, protected tags and character limits in the brief.

I work with translation tools including Trados Studio, memoQ and Phrase. Send a sample of your files so I can confirm the workflow and delivery format before the project begins.

For concrete examples of the context that helps with short interface strings, read French UI Translation: Five Strings That Need Context.

Translation, review and linguistic testing

  1. Preparation: agree the scope, terminology, reference material and deadline.
  2. Translation: write the French with the product context and intended user in mind, raising questions where the source is ambiguous.
  3. Review and QA: check meaning, terminology, readability, numbers, tags and consistency, using manual review and supporting tools such as Xbench and Antidote.
  4. Delivery and follow-up: return the agreed files and address implementation questions or later additions.

Linguistic testing of the translated interface can be scoped separately. Tell me which product or build is available and what you want checked. For an existing French version, see my proofreading and revision service.
